Spanish Teacher
Position Overview
A Spanish teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in the Spanish language and culture, helping students develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while fostering global awareness.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach Spanish courses (beginner through advanced levels) aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural understanding
- Use a variety of instructional strategies (immersion, communicative methods, technology integration)
Student Engagement & Assessment
- Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, and oral evaluations
- Provide timely feedback and adjust instruction based on student needs
- Promote active participation and real-world language use
Classroom Environment
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture
- Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies
- Support diverse learners, including students with special needs and English learners
Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings
- Maintain accurate records (grades, attendance, lesson plans)
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or related field
- Valid North Carolina teaching license in Spanish (K–12), issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
- Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish (oral and written)
Preferred
- Teaching experience
- Experience with language-learning technology tools
