K-12 Principal certification with a Special Education teaching certificate.

Job Description
Job Summary: To ensure that the Luzerne Intermediate Unit programs/services including assigned classrooms, related services and ancillary programs operate under best practice and provide a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) for students attending LIU programs/services from local and regional school districts.
1. Prepare class lists of students attending assigned programs.
2. Assist districts and parents in the placement of student into programs and services through evaluation process that best meets their needs.
3. Assist teachers, school districts, and parents in developing individual education plans for students.
4. Assist teachers, school districts, and parents in developing functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans for students.
5. Evaluate teachers, para educators, and related services according to PDE regulations.
6. Prepare Extended School Year (ESY) programming.
7. Respond daily to inquire from staff and parents regarding program needs.
8. Assist the Assistant to Student Services Director in conducting interviews for positions within the organization.
9. Identify professional developments needs for staff.
10. Participate on IU committees.
11. Attend monthly staff meetings.
12. Ensure that all processes and policies of supervised employees are followed.
13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director and/or the Executive Director.
Requirements and Qualifications:
PA Supervisor of Special Education certification or K-12 Principal certification with a Special Education teaching certificate.
Oral and written communication skills are a must.
Corrected hearing to 40db and corrected vision acuity of 20 inches or less/20 feet or more to accommodate field of vision.
Driver’s license and ability to travel with own vehicle both inside and outside the LIU.
Ability to make sound judgements.
Knowledge of PA and Federal laws and regulations needed.
Environmental movement requires sitting, standing, walking, and move throughout buildings.
