Job Title: Speech & Language Pathologist
Qualifications: Valid PDE Public School Certification, CCC and/or PA State License required for medical billing
Classifications: Professional
Reports To: Supervisor of Special Education and Assistant to the Executive Director for Student Services
Job Summary: Assist students with speech/language delays, which adversely affects their educational performance. Position is itinerant, serving
Schools assigned by Supervisor, according to needs.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Conduct speech and language screening and diagnostic evaluation upon request.
2. Provide input for Re- Evaluation Reports (RR’s) and complete RR’s where the Speech/Language Support Teacher is the case manager, in compliance with Federal and State regulations and LIU 18 policies.
3. Complete Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) with IEP Team in compliance with Federal and State regulations and LIU 18 policies.
4. Develop and implement programming via trans disciplinary approach for children who are exhibiting speech and language difficulties, which have a negative impact on their education.
5. Provide supports, consultation and collaboration with school personnel as needed.
6. Keep records, including data on the instructional program, progress and attendance, in accordance with Federal and State Regulations and LIU 18 policies.
7. Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
8. Work to stay current in subject and/or content area, as well as instructional techniques.
9. Profit from opportunities for professional growth and provide information to increase public awareness of the speech/language program.
10. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
11. Assume responsibility for materials, equipment and facilities.
12. Ability to commute between buildings/districts throughout the day and week.
13. Ability to stand, walk and sit continuously.
14. Ability to push, pull and lift items occasionally.
15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Education and/or the Assistant to the Executive Director for Student Services
