Volunteer Coaches

The Milton Area School District is seeking individuals interested in serving as Volunteer Coaches for our athletic programs.

Volunteer Coaches assist District coaching staff in supporting student-athletes and may help with practices, skill development, supervision, and other team activities as directed by the head coach and athletic department.

The following steps must be completed prior to starting actual volunteer services. Instructions for obtaining clearances can be found on the district website Human Resources - Clearances:

1) Complete and submit the Volunteer Coaching Application by applying below.

2) After initial approval from the Athletic Director, you will need to obtain your clearances which include:

1. Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check (Act 34)
2. Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
3. Federal Criminal History Background Check, PDE or DHS (Act 114)
4. Arrest/Conviction Report (Act 24) 3) Complete the online Mandated Reporter Training and submit proof of completion. The online training is available at ReportAbusePA.pitt.edu.

4) Provide the results of a tuberculosis (TB) test (dated within three months of your first board approval and will need renewed if you have a break in service).

5) Your name will then be placed on the School Board agenda for approval.

6) Once approved, you will be contacted by the Athletic Director to begin your volunteer service.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Knowledge of and interest in the applicable sport
• Ability to work effectively with students and coaching staff
• Commitment to promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, and appropriate conduct
• Must meet all District volunteer requirements, including required background clearances
• Must complete all required trainings and documentation
• All volunteer coaching appointments are subject to Board approval
• Volunteer Coaches serve without compensation
