Job Summary    

Plans, implements, and evaluates student learning experiences using a differentiated curriculum while aligning to Ohio’s Learning Standards or Ohio’s Learning Standards-Extended. Helps students manage behavior, identify goals, and make appropriate choices. Encourages parental involvement. Makeup of classroom may vary based on student needs (i.e., multiple disabilities, emotional disturbance, etc.)   


Minimum Qualifications             

  • Valid Ohio Mild/Moderate and/or Moderate/Intense Special Education teaching license and required subject/grade level endorsements
  • Prior teaching experience helpful
  • Knowledgeable of Ohio learning and extended standards
  • Strong relationship building, communication and presentation skills with school age children & parents/guardians. Good interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence
  • Ability to use relational techniques and strategies to elicit positive behavior & compliance from students
  • May require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, CPI and/or behavioral management training or other training as needed
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task on a daily basis
  • Proficiency with use of technology hardware and basic software (i.e., Microsoft office), email, and office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). Proficiency with web-based applications (i.e., Google Docs, ODE website, social media, etc.), and NCOESC databases
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of student information and records

               

Clearances Criminal justice fingerprint/background (FBI/BCI), and public health clearances.

               

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions   

  1. Performance of duties requires constant talking, hearing, engagement in repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
  2. Performance of primary duties takes place in a school environment with constant exposure to noise. Occasional exposure to hazards. Frequent light to medium physical effort required.
