Qualifications:
▪ High School Diploma
▪ Pass a criminal background check prior to employment
Responsibilities:
▪ Provide caring, consistent support to help a wheelchair-bound student succeed in academic, social, and daily school
routines
▪ Follow the intervention specialists’ plans, including positive behavior and ABA-based strategies, to help the student
learn new skills
▪ Support the student’s communication needs by encouraging and modeling the use of their AAC device throughout the
day
▪ Assist the student with self-regulation using sensory tools, visual supports, scheduled breaks, and calming strategies
▪ Use visual schedules, first/then boards, and timers to help the student understand routines and transitions
▪ Promote independence by gradually reducing support as the student gains confidence and skills
▪ Encourage positive behavior through proactive supports, redirection, reinforcement, and consistency with the student’s
Behavior Intervention Plan
▪ Help the student practice social skills and communicate with peers and adults across school settings
▪ Maintain a safe, structured environment and provide gentle support during transitions or challenging moments
▪ Keep all student information private and follow district and ODE guidelines at all times
Starting Date: ASAP
Hours to be Worked: 5.92 hours per day (8:10 a.m.-2:35 p.m.) – 188-day contract
