POSITION OVERVIEW

The 1:1 School Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing health services to Midview Schools/LeafBridge Alternative Education. Working in collaboration with educators, administrators, and families, the school nurse serves as the primary healthcare resource within the school community — promoting wellness, managing chronic conditions, responding to acute needs, and ensuring students are healthy and ready to learn. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in assessment and triage of student health concerns under RN/physician supervision
  • Administer medications and treatments per established protocols and physician orders
  • Assist in implementing individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs)
  • Support management of students with chronic health conditions including asthma, diabetes, and allergies
  • Conduct health screenings as directed (vision, hearing, BMI)
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA
  • Communicate student health updates to parents, school staff, and supervising RN
  • Provide basic health education to students and families
  • Respond to building-level health needs and assist in emergency situations
  • Collaborate with the supervising RN and school team to promote student wellness

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio
  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
  • School nursing or pediatric/community health experience preferred
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a school environment under RN supervision
  • CPR/AED certification required (or willingness to obtain)

LICENSURE

Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) per Ohio nursing scope of practice.

Hours: 6 hours per day, 5 days per week

Salary: $21-$24/hour
