Summary:

This dynamic position has a dual role - Curriculum/Gifted Director at the Educational Service Center of Medina County and Gifted Services Coordinator and Content Consultant for Cloverleaf Local Schools. The ESC team works together to provide support and resources to Medina County school districts and surrounding entities. The Director of Curriculum and Gifted Services provides specific support to their district counterparts, as well as facilitating new initiatives, and seeking resources to help our districts do what they do more effectively and efficiently.


Qualifications:

Successful experience in teaching and school administration

Master’s degree or higher

Valid Ohio supervisor or appropriate administrative certificate

Gifted certification preferred

Valid Ohio driver’s license

Must pass a background check


Position Description:

The Director of Curriculum and Gifted Services provides leadership and guidance in the development, implementation, and coordination of the Educational Service Center’s Pre-K through Grade 12 curriculum and gifted education services. This position assists the Superintendent in developing, achieving, and sustaining high-quality educational programs and services for the Service Center’s customer districts and agencies. This person also serves as the Gifted Coordinator for Cloverleaf Local Schools.

The Director of Curriculum and Gifted Services:

  1. Implements and models the Educational Service Center of Medina County’s philosophy and mission.
  2. Cooperates with the philosophies and operational procedures of local, city, joint vocational, nonpublic schools, and other contracted agencies.
  3. Maintains positive, collaborative working relationships with county personnel and contracted schools or agencies.
  4. Represents the ESCMC and its service schools with professionalism at all times.
  5. Demonstrates integrity, ethical behavior, and sound professional judgment.

Gifted and Talented Services:

  1. Coordinates the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and plans for identified gifted and talented students through district gifted coordinators.
  2. Serves as a communication link among countywide gifted coordinators regarding identification and service delivery.
  3. Assists in planning assessment, testing, identification, placement, service options, and guidance for gifted students.
  4. Provides leadership and direction by meeting regularly with gifted staff to establish and implement district-wide goals.
  5. Coordinates countywide enrichment programs and directs service activities for gifted students.
  6. Provides professional learning to parents, mentors, aides, administrators, teachers, counselors, and coordinators regarding gifted identification, characteristics, and educational and social-emotional needs.
  7. Disseminates information related to research, workshops, conferences, and professional learning opportunities in gifted education.


Curriculum and Instruction:

  1. Interprets courses of study and state academic standards for the Governing Board, administrators, staff, districts, and the public.
  2. Plans and implements countywide professional learning, consultant services, workshops, and meetings.
  3. Monitors developments in curriculum and instruction and provides leadership for district implementation.
  4. Monitors state regulations and supports district compliance and implementation.
  5. Participates in state and regional curriculum and policy initiatives.


Professional Development

  1. Coordinates and oversees in-service programs, workshops, and state and national conference presentations.
  2. Builds and sustains professional networks, including relationships with state agencies and regional partners.
  3. Evaluates professional learning offerings for quality and continuous improvement.
  4. Presents professional development sessions as needed.
  5. Expands and explores online learning opportunities locally and nationally.
  6. Coordinates logistics for presenters, including facilities, travel, and related services.
